How to watch a class page

Under two minutes, start to finish. Works for any school with a public course catalog — we'll use Berkeley as a concrete example throughout.

Find your class's public enrollment page

Every school has a public course catalog— the page you can browse without logging in. That's the page WaitlistWarrior watches.

  1. Google “your schoolcourse schedule” or “your school class search.” Look for the public catalog (not the student portal — that requires login).
  2. Search for your course and open the specific section you want (each lecture / discussion has its own enrollment numbers).
  3. Confirm the page shows enrollment counts on it — e.g. “Enrolled 65 of 130,” “Open seats: 12,” or “Waitlisted 8.” If it does, copy the URL from the address bar.

Berkeley's public catalog is classes.berkeley.edu. Search for CS 189 or MATH 110, click a specific lecture/section, and the URL will look like:

If the page hides enrollment numbers behind a login (CalCentral shopping cart, Wolverine Access, etc.), you'll want the “private / SSO” flow further down the page instead.

Create a watch on WaitlistWarrior

  1. Open /dashboard/watches/new (Dashboard → New watch).
  2. Give it a name you'll recognize (“CS 189 Lecture”) and paste the catalog URL you copied in Step 1.
  3. Click Test. If things look right you'll see the current enrollment counts (Enrolled, Waitlisted, Open Seats, etc.) in a yellow banner.
  4. Slide Check frequency to how often you want us to look — every 1 minute on Pro, every 5 on Plus, every 30 on Free.
  5. Pick your alert channels (Email always, Telegram on Basic and up), and optionally uncheck any stats you don't care about (e.g. only alert on Open Seats changing, ignore Waitlist creep).
  6. Click Start watching.

Wait for the ping

When a seat opens (or any tracked stat changes), you get an email — and a Telegram message if you linked one — with the exact change and a big “Enroll” button that takes you to the register page.

You can pause a watch, tweak its frequency, or change alert stats any time from your dashboard.

Bonus: private / CalCentral pages

Some class info only shows up behind CalNet — the CalCentral Shopping Cart, for instance. Those pages need our Chrome extension because they need your live signed-in session.

  1. Install the extension from /extension (one-click add from the Chrome Web Store).
  2. Grab your token at /extension/link and paste it into the extension popup.
  3. When you create the watch, check “This class page requires sign-in / SSO” and put a unique identifier (class number like 29078 or a course code like COMPSCI 189) in the Page must contain field. CalCentral shows lots of classes at the same URL, so this tells us which one to track.
  4. Keep the class-detail modal open in a CalCentral tab. The extension reads it every few minutes while Chrome is running.
Only the Pro plan unlocks the extension. Everyone else uses the server-side monitor against the public classes.berkeley.edu page, which is fine for most watches.

Common public-catalog names

Different schools brand their public catalog differently. If you can't find yours by Googling, try these keywords:

  • “Course Catalog” / “Course Schedule”
  • “Class Search” / “Class Schedule”
  • “Schedule of Classes”
  • “Public Course Catalog”
  • “Section Enrollment”
  • “Registrar course search”

If your school's catalog is behind login only, the SSO / extension flow above works for you — you'll just skip the Test button and let the extension report the first snapshot.
